1942 - Jerome "Jerry" Garcia is born.  Is raised at 121 Amazon Street, Excelsior District - San Francisco

1947 - Jerry Garcia moves to his maternal grandparents house at 87 Harrington Street, Excelsior District - San Francisco

1993 - Giants / Grateful Dead shirt is sold at Candlestick Park.  Excelsior Native and SF Giants Novelty Vendor Tom Murphy sees the positive 
           reaction from these shirt sales.  #1 Selling shirt for 3 years.  

1995 - Excelsior resident Jo Coffey advocates to have McLaren Park Amphitheater renamed to Jerry Garcia Amphitheater

1995 - Excelsior Native / resident Tom Murphy reads about renaming efforts in small community newsletter and learns about Jerry Garcia
          growing up in the Excelsior for first time.  He's blown away.  

2001 - Jerry Garcia Estate is reached out to in order to look into idea of memorializing and
          commemorating  Jerry Garcia in his childhood neighborhood.  

2002 - The first Jerry Garcia / Excelsior celebration - "Jerry Shirt" -  is held at Italian American Social Club on September 19th, 2002

2003 - Tom Murphy and a few neighbors decide to keep the celebration going,  "Jerry Day" is held at McLaren Park Amphitheater.

2004 - Remembering previous commemoration efforts, Tom Murphy suggests to Jerry Day Committee that Amphitheater is renamed to Jerry 
          Garcia Amphitheater.   Enthusiastic responses all around.  Mayor's office and the Jerry Garcia Family agree as well.

2004 - Signatures are gathered at Jerry Day 2004.

2005 - Signatures turned in, the San Francisco Rec Park Commission makes the Jerry Garcia Amphitheater official on July 21, 2005.

2005 - August - unveiling of Jerry Garcia Amphitheater at Jerry Day 2005.

2005 - October - Mayor Gavin Newsom dedicates the Jerry Garcia Amphitheater

2007 - 5th Annual Jerry Day!

2010 - Community Partnership with SF Giants to present 1st Annual Jerry Garcia Night at ATT Park.  
          SF Giants win their first Championship and Jerry Garcia / Grateful Dead Nights are now presented throughout the country. 

2012 - 10th Annual Jerry Day!  Trixie Garcia, daughter of Jerry Garcia, says a few words.   

2013 - Save Jerry Garcia Amphitheater Campaign is established.  5000 signatures is collected in two weeks.  
          Jerry Garcia Amphitheater is preserved!

2015 - 13th Annual Jerry Day! 50 Year Anniversary of the Grateful Dead.  10 Year Anniversary of Jerry Garcia Amphitheater.

​2016 - Jerry Garcia Sidewalk Plaque Unveiling - Harrington & Mission St - Fall 2016

2017 - 15th Annual Jerry Day - August 6th.  50th Anniversary of the Summer of Love.
2017 - August 1st, 2017 - 2nd Plaque Unveiling - Amazon and Mission - Jerry's 1st Childhood Home - 75th Bday

​2018 - August 5, 2018 - 16th Annual Jerry Day

​2019 - August 4, 2019 - 17th Annual Jerry Day

2020 - August 2, 2020.  Covid 19 takes control.  18th Annual is officially Jerry Day @ Home 2020.   

2022 - August 13, 2022 - 20th Annual Jerry Day and a return to the Jerry Garcia Amphitheater.
